James Cordes

James M. Cordes is an associate attorney at the Law Office of Laura E. Shapiro, P.C. James received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and his law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

While in law school, James distinguished himself as a quarterfinalist in the Hogan & Hartson CU/DU Cup Mock Trial competition. In addition to competing in trial competitions, being a member of trial teams and studying International Law abroad in Brazil, James was honored to be selected as a trial team coach for the Student Trial Lawyers Association.

Prior to joining Laura Shapiro’s office, James completed a Fellowship at the Colorado Department of State where he helped develop new policies based on his analysis of statutory law and administrative regulation.

James is a proud Eagle Scout who enjoys triathlons, adventure races, skiing, dancing, and is a big fan of the Denver Broncos and CU Buffs.
