Laura

Laura began her legal career in 1977 in New York. In New York,
she acted as a hearing officer for the New York City Office of Rent Control. Later in New York, she practiced Immigration
Law and then worked for Legal Services in upstate New York. She began her Colorado legal career in 1980 with Colorado
Rural Legal Services.
In 1985 she began work for the Colorado Attorney General's office and represented
the Colorado Health Department and several agencies; this work involved complex litigation for the Department.
All of her prior experience helped to hone her litigation skills. In 1987 she began focusing solely on divorce
and family law matters. She started this focus working with the Law Office of Stephen J. Harhai and later, Malman &
Malman. She has been a speaker on family law issues and has written several articles.
In 1991 she opened her own
firm in Denver, specializing in divorce and family law. She has extensive experience with high conflict divorce, family
law litigation, and high value, complex property divisions in divorce.
She practices statewide, focusing on the
Metro Denver counties, such as Denver, Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, Lincoln, Jefferson, Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Clear
Creek and Weld as well as southern and eastern Colorado counties. In eastern counties she has developed an expertise
in representing agricultural families.
